aiAutomotive (aiA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Autodom Limited. It operates automotive component manufacturing plants in South Australia and Victoria. In recent years aiA has pursued an acquisition strategy whereby it has taken over a number of smaller component manufacturers.
In late 2006 aiA acquired the business of Hendersons Components an Adelaide metal pressing and assembly business. In late 2007 it completed the purchase of Dair SA which manufactures cross car beams and hand brake assemblies. Both these businesses have been relocated into the aiA manufacturing plant at Woodville in Adelaide.
In January 2008 aiA acquired HPG Engineering in Victoria. HPG manufactures a range of metal components used in seating and suspension systems. The acquisition has given aiA a base in Victoria from which to capitalise on new business opportunities with existing and new customers. Other acquisition opportunities are under due diligence investigation.
aiA today is a prominent Australian owned component manufacturer. Annual revenues are $125m and the business employs around 400 people. The two manufacturing plants at Woodville in Adelaide, South Australia and Bayswater in Melbourne, Victoria offer a wide range of metal pressing, assembly, specialised welding, E-Coat and other paint capability.
